Lake Tahoe is a beautiful place. If you can make it to the fringe of the crowds, you can relax and enjoy the chilly but refreshing water, lapping waves, and lovely scenery.

The finished tunnel became two arches. Very nice work by the boys.

The first place on the lake where we could find a parking spot—naturally not in a parking lot, but on the side of the road because the parking lot was full—was Meeks Bay. The bay has a nice little beach served half by a state park, half by a resort, with a little marina separating the two. The boys loved it, and fulfilled their wish of swimming in the lake.

You have a witty commentary, which is fun to read…you know, surprisingly, I haven’t been to Meeks Bay/Lake Tahoe. Sarah went there many times growing up in the summer/winter. She is an especially good “ice” skier given her Tahoe skiing background and can navigate moguls much better than me…not too hard to do since I didn’t learn to ski until you took me up to Bachelor…I’ll never forget our trek up the Rainbow (?) lift during lunch on my beginner lesson break…I did a faceplant coming off the lift and ended up having to walk down the slope and just barely made it back to the lessons on time. Needless to say, I’m still a crappy skier and I haven’t gone since the late 90s…very sad but true. I think I’d rather visit Tahoe in the summer…BUT NOT ON A WEEKEND – yikes that must have been h*ll driving in that traffic. Thanks for sharing your blog trip with the boys – it was really great seeing you, Shelli, and the boys at D’s wedding. Darrell
